This is a foundation level course to give catering employees an appreciation and understanding of good food hygiene practice.

The RSPH Level 2 Award in Food Safety is aimed at food handlers – anyone whose job role includes cooking, preparing or serving food. Gain the qualification you need to demonstrate that you have the knowledge needed to prepare, cook and handle food safely.

Foundation level course to give food workers knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of good practice in food safety.

Course Content
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

Define food safety.
State the symptoms and causes of food poisoning.
State the benefits associated with good food safety.
State the sources of food poisoning bacteria.
Describe how food poisoning can occur and how it can be prevented.
Define cross-contamination.
State the requirements for construction for food premises.
Define the term “food pest”.
State the statuary requirements for food premises.
State the benefits of a documented food management system.
Who should take this qualification?
Knowledge of basic food safety procedures is a legal requirement for all food handlers. So this course is ideal for anyone in a job that involves the cooking, preparation or serving of food.

Do I need to train all of my staff who come into contact with food?
The short answer is yes. They enable you to demonstrate to environmental health officers that your staff have been properly trained in food safety in accordance with the national occupational standards. With so much media attention on food scares and food poisoning, you cannot afford to risk endangering the lives of any of your customers.
